Brewer, Margaret Mitchell, 90, of Caribou and Presque Isle, on November 1, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou.


AR Margaret BrewerCaribou and Presque Isle – Margaret Mitchell Brewer, 90, went to be with her Lord on November 1, 2010, with her family by her side. Born July 9, 1920, in Green Hill, N.B. the daughter of Perry and Mary Mitchell of Caribou.

She was a 1938 graduate of Caribou High School and graduated in 1941 from the Aroostook State Normal School (UMPI) with her teaching degree. It was there that she meet her future husband, Freeman Brewer of Presque Isle. She was a homemaker for many years , substitute teaching occasionally in Caribou schools. After her three children were grown she worked at the Caribou Public Library for several years. Margaret was a 77-year member of the Gray Memorial Methodist Church in Caribou. She enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage, bowling, curling, reading and collecting Hummels.

She was predeceased by her husband, Freeman, (Chink) in 1993. Margaret made her home the past six years at Leisure Village in Presque Isle. The family would like to thank the staff there for their TLC. She leaves behind her three children, Sandra May (Jack) of El Dorado Hills, Ca., Richard Brewer (Susan) of Richmond , Va., and Brenda Brewer of Joliet, Ill., her loving sister and best friend Mary K. Mitchell of Caribou and sister Norma Shafer of Texas, three grandchildren, Dean May (Martina) of the Czech Republic, Catherine Caltabiano (Steve) of Cameron Park, Ca. and Taylor Brewer of Richmond, Va., as well as three great grandchildren , Rachel and Zachary Caltabiano and Tomas May.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Presque Isle Nursing Home for their compassionate end-of-life care of Margaret. 

Funeral arrangements by Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home of Caribou with a private family burial at the Evergreen Cemetery.
