VAN BUREN – Janae Libby scored off a Kylie Plourde assist midway through the first half to give Fort Fairfield the early lead in its Eastern Maine Class D quarterfinal match against the Crusaders last Tuesday, but the Tigers were kept off the scoreboard the rest of the way while Van Buren found its offense en route to the 4-1 triumph.

Erika Searles scored twice, both goals coming in the second half, to lead the hosts. Freshman Parise Rossignol notched a goal and set up two others, while Haley Lizotte was Van Buren’s other goal scorer.

Ashlie Wilson collected 17 saves on 22 shots in goal for the Crusaders.

Rebecca Pelkey and Katie Donovan combined for 19 saves on 24 shots for the Tigers, which ended up with a final record of 7-6-3 as the No. 6 seed in the division.
