County players named all-stars

The high school soccer season may be over, but for some local athletes one more game remains on the schedule for area seniors.

On Monday, the Maine Soccer Coaches announced their Eastern and Western Regional All-Star Teams for 2010. The Maine Soccer Coaches 16th Annual Senior Bowl will be played on Sunday, Nov. 14th at Hampden Academy. Seniors who are selected to a regional all-star team are invited to participate in the games. The girls game begins at noon and the boys game starts at 2:30 p.m.
Local athletes named to the Eastern Class B boys team are: Caribou’s Chad Caverhill (junior); and Presque Isle’s Josh Allen (senior), Brandon Bonville (senior), Andrew Legassie (senior) and Wilder York (junior).
Named to the Eastern Class D boys squad was: Nathan McLaughlin (senior) of Fort Fairfield.
Named to the Eastern Class B girls team were Caribou’s Jamie Martin (junior), Jenna Selander (senior) and Olivia Sleeper (sophomore); and Presque Isle’s Chelsea Nickerson (junior) and Kayla Richards (junior).
Named to the Eastern Class D girls squad were: Ashland’s Whitney Donovan (senior) and Brooke LaBelle (junior); Easton’s Carla Halvorson (sophomore); Fort Fairfield’s Logan Bubar (freshman) and Abbey Player (freshman); and Washburn’s Carmen Bragg (freshman), Carsyn Koch (freshman) and Rayah Saucier (sophomore).
The 36th Maine Soccer Coaches All-Star Banquet is on Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor at 1 p.m. Beside honoring the regional all-star players, the Maine Soccer Coaches will also announce the Eastern and Western State Teams, two All Americas, eight All New England players, eight Class “Players of the Year”, and four “Coaches of the Year.”
