The History Department at Hodgdon High School has had guest speakers in the last few weeks to talk about the Lewis and Clark Expedition and Civil Rights in Virginia in the early 1970’s. U.S. History students gave PowerPoint Presentations covering Jacksonian Democracy and Manifest Destiny. Civics students have been using Moodle with the Declaration of Independence. Students will always remember the Battle of Bunker Hill at Hodgdon High School … just ask them.
This year has brought many new changes for Hodgdon JMG.  Specialist Katie Rose Gergosian has stepped in to take over for Kara Wright, who is now teaching Social Studies. Hodgdon JMG held their Initiation and Installation Ceremony on Sept. 30 and were honored to have HHS alumni Representative Richard Cleary speak to our new class of JMG Career Association members. The annual Veteran’s Breakfast was held on November 10th to honor our local veterans and their families. This is a community tradition that Hodgdon High School is honored to carry on.
British Literature students in grade 12 are wrapping up a study of the Anglo-Saxons by analyzing a literary work from the time period. Each student is writing an essay in which they analyze a literary work or one of its key elements. Grade 12 students also presented visual and written pieces of their legacy, called Senior Scrapbooks, to one another at the end of the quarter.  Each student writes four essays per quarter with visual representations they collect in a scrapbook to share aloud in class. The Senior Scrapbooks will be on display in Mrs. Mills room during Parent Conferences on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Check out our web page at www.msad70.org for all the latest calendar events and staff information. We hope to see everyone at the parent conferences from 12-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
