Hospital to host tree- lighting ceremony
PRESQUE ISLE — Decorating is all part of the holiday season. To mark the occasion, officials at The Aroostook Medical Center invite the community to a special event being held to celebrate the first lighting of this year’s Christmas tree at A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital.
“We’re getting ready to hold our fourth annual Lights of Life Tree Lighting Ceremony,” said Bobbie-Jo Caron, TAMC Health Care Charities philanthropy officer.
Caron said the event is a great way to bring people together.
“The tree-lighting ceremony is when we come together to celebrate and recognize everyone who helped to light our tree,” she said.
The tree also serves as a fundraiser, with each light on the tree representing a $10 donation made to honor or memorialize a friend or family member of a donor. The donations are used to enhance patient care in areas of the hospital specified by those who give to the program. Caron said options include cancer care, dialysis, Lifeline, pediatrics, cardiac care and Aroostook Health Care.
“The great thing about Lights of Life is that it only costs $10 to participate, and these contributions make a significant impact right here in our community. It’s an easy way for people to draw attention to a special friend or family member. For those who want to do something extra special, we have constellations that are available for $250. The star at the top of the tree is also available for $500,” Caron said.
The names of the people being recognized will be on display inside the hospital’s Main Entrance and at www.tamc.org throughout the holiday season. In addition, a card will be sent to the honoree or to a family member of a person being memorialized.
“The tree-lighting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m., right outside of the hospital’s Main Entrance. Refreshments will be served,” said Caron.
