SOMERSWORTH, NH – Mildred D. Ross, 97 years, formerly of Somersworth, NH passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossippee, NH. She was born in Caribou on November 20, 1912, a daughter of the late Reuben and Abby (Demerchant) Doody.
She grew up in the Caribou and Houlton area, attending local schools.
She married her husband of 44 years, Hubert Ross, who predeceased her in 1985.
She was a member of and very active of the Faith Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting afghans, winning hundreds of ribbons from the Rochester Fair.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Gagne.
She is survived by a son, Carl Ross and his wife, Jane of Farmersville, TX; a daughter, Norma Gagne and her husband, David of Alexandria, NH; three brothers, Reuben Doody, Jr., of Houlton, Atwood Doody of Harlem, GA and Harold Doody of Venice, FL; one sister, Ruth Ouellette of Caribou; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends called Friday, November 19, 2010, from 1-3 p.m. at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, ME. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2011.
