Presque Isle – Robert E. Levasseur, 54, passed away quietly at TAMC in Presque Isle on Nov. 15, 2010, surrounded by family and friends after a brief battle with cancer.
Robert was born in Van Buren, Maine on May 1, 1956, the son of Rene and Rachel (Boucher) Levasseur. As a boy, Robert worked on his father’s farm and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1974.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his wife, Theresa and two children, Scott of Ellsworth and a daughter, Ranée of Seal Harbor. Robert was predeceased by a son, Shaun. Robert is also survived by two grandchildren, Cara Ivy and Shaun. He was extremely fond of his grandchildren and loved to visit them. Robert is also survived by a brother, Richard and his wife, Julie of Herman, Maine and a sister Joan Ramsey of Addison, Maine. Robert would also want to mention a very special family friend, Cris Peary.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served between 1976 and 1981. While in the service, Robert served with the 10th Armored Division in Germany. He remained with the active reserves for a number of years.
Robert loved to read science fiction books and could speak very intelligently on almost every subject. He was an extremely talented artist and painted many beautiful pictures, which he gave to family and friends. Robert was a very kind-hearted and pleasant person to be around. He will be much missed by the people who knew him.
Family and friends gathered at Robert’s sister-in-law’s residence at 14 McManus Street in Washburn on Saturday, Nov. 20th at 2 p.m. for a remembrance service.
