Kaleb Johnson, left, is presented $50 recognition award from his Mom Cindy Johnson, owner of The Cubby in Caribou. The award was given to Caleb, who was diagnosed at the age of 9 months with neurofibromatosis, Type I, a life-threatening condition for which there is no cure, for being named the Hero of the Month for October by The Cubby. Chris and Cindy Johnson, owners and parents, are striving to “give back to a community which has helped them, and to assist others who may be in need. Kaleb was named the shop’s first hero for his continuous upbeat attitude, wonderful disposition and his readiness to help at his family’s shop, which is named after him. Anyone who would like to recommend someone to be honored as a Cubby Hero can call the shop at 496-0600.
