My mind goes back to long ago,
To the first Thanksgiving Day;
To the people who searched
And the people who came
To find the Great Freedom Way.
Such a worthy cause was never more felt
Than this freedom they came to seek,
To worship God in our free way
Is a blessing far more than we think.
So let us give thanks to our God above,
For the Pilgrims, the people of old,
Who gave their own life that we might have
Our freedom to have and to hold.
