DUROST, Earl M., 58, Presque Isle, in Mars Hill, December 18, 2010. A committal service will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

PRESQUE ISLE – Earl Miles Durost, 58, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the AHC Skilled Nursing Unit in Mars Hill. He was born December 2, 1952, in Washburn, the son of Clifford and Joyce (Corey) Durost, Sr.

Pastor Durost attended Washburn schools, Faith School of Theology, North Central Bible College and UMPI. He received a BA in Pastoral Studies and a BS in Education. He worked as a teacher in Maine School systems, and as a pastor in Baileyville, and most recently at the Church of Jesus in Presque Isle. During his earthly journey, he enjoyed teaching, especially the Word of God. His first passion was sharing time with his family.  He was well respected in his community and he continued to teach faith and perseverance during his battle with cancer.  He was a beacon of God’s light to all who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Wanda (Mullen) Durost; a daughter, Ericka and her husband, Jamin; grandchildren Parker and Bronwyn Potter; siblings, Charles Durost and his wife, Mora, Faye Hansen, and her husband, Steven, Betty LaPlante, Joyce Doak and her husband, Rick, Mary Rossignol, Jane Pante and her husband, Richard, Cathy Leavitt and her husband, David, Clifford Durost, Jr., Lois Murphy and her husband, Roger; stepmother, Ada Durost; as well as several extended family members, including parishioners of the Church of Jesus.

He was predeceased by his parents and grandparents.

Friends called 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2010, at the Church of Jesus on Chapman St., Presque Isle. A celebration of Earl’s life was conducted, 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the church with the Revs.  Mark Carter and Bruce Blakney officiating. A reception was held following the service at the church. A committal service will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery. Those who wish, may make donations to the Church of Jesus in Pastors, Earl’s memory to continue his passion (153 Chapman St., Presque Isle, ME 04769).
