Local elected officials
named to legislative committees
With the New Year just days away, Maine legislative leaders have been busy designating assignments to the various state committees for the 125th Legislature.
Maine Senate President Kevin Raye and Speaker of the House Robert Nutting announced the full slate of Joint Standing Committee assignments for the 125th Legislature, as well as the Government Oversight Committee on Regulatory Fairness and Reform shortly before Christmas.
“It’s vital to the future of Maine that the new legislature is able to work effectively to strengthen Maine’s economy and meet the many challenges we face as a state,” said Raye. “The first step is to put together the strongest possible committees with effective leadership. The committees we are announcing today will be well-positioned to provide common-sense solutions for Maine’s future.”
Nutting said a lot of effort was put into making sure “our members are positioned to be as effective as possible,” with the state’s economy a primary focus.
“With these committees in place, we are ready to move forward on our pledge to the Maine people to get this economy back on track. This legislature is full of hard-working, effective people from both sides of the aisle, and I’m confident we will see great things in the coming two years,” said Nutting.
