Helen Kidney Umphrey died peacefully on December 22, 2010, at Meese Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, FL.

She is survived by her sister, Charlotte; her daughter, Laura Foster; and her sons, James, Patrick, Daniel, and Peter. She also leaves ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends.

The daughter of James L. and Lucy Shaw Kidney of Washburn, ME, Helen’s professional career began as a teacher there, and spanned 25 years as a medical social worker in the State of Maine, until her retirement to Florida in 1995. She was a member of the Anona United Methodist Church in Largo, FL, and a 25-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

A graveside committal will be held in April at the Anona United Methodist Church, and a memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Washburn, ME, in May.
