Northern Maine Chamber concert
to be held at UMPI
PRESQUE ISLE — The Northern Maine Chamber Society will present a concert of mixed classical music on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The concert will be at 7 p.m. in the university’s Campus Center. The event is free, and the public is invited.
Under the direction of Conductor Waldo Caballero, the orchestra will perform works by Cools, Haydn, Roper and Suppe. Caballero teaches music in the Orono school system, serves as Orono High School’s orchestra directo, and also plays viola with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
The Northern Maine Chamber Society orchestra celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010. It is comprised of musicians from Aroostook County, New Brunswick and Bangor. Orchestra members include students, teachers and other professionals from the area. Membership in the group is open to the community.
