To the editor:
Unbelievably it’s a New Year, and time for folks to look back at 2010, and consider nominating fellow community members for Citizen of the Year, and Business of the Year!
The criteria used for nomination purposes the last several years has been fairly basic and straightforward: nominations are open to any person, or any business (irrespective of chamber membership), and we ask the nominating individual(s) to present their reasons for why the citizen or business has made a significant impact in Caribou.
The last several years we have also had a “special” category which we have called the “Spirit of Caribou” which can be any business or individual, which may not fit into the more traditional category of Business or Citizen. The nomination period will run through the end of January, 2011. There is not a specific form which needs to be filled out, but rather we only ask for something in writing (typed, written, faxed, mailed, however you may get it to us: it’s all good).
Oftentimes it seems in the daily crunch of things, we forget to take time to appreciate those around us doing countless good things “under the radar” so to speak, but we all know countless folks (I am sure of it!), who are making Caribou a better place to be, and this is a chance to throw a little limelight on their cause, their charity, or their good works. While the specific date for Annual Recognition Dinner has not been set at this time, the committee is planning it will be sometime the end of March or the first of April.
Please consider those folks around you in our community, and nominate someone.
