On Thursday Sept. 20, 2010, the Caribou Police Department received a report of criminal mischief at 703 Van Buren Road in Caribou. The owner of the property reported that someone entered the migrant workers home causing an extensive amount of damage. Caribou Police Officer Doug Bell stated that someone plugged all the drains and turned the water on causing them to overflow. The water penetrated the floors and walls causing over $10,000 in damage.
Police say it is not known whether this was a random act of criminal mischief or may have been a hate crime due to who the tenants were.
