The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with Matlock Golf to help area residents understand the complex but extremely popular sport of golf by offering adult lessons beginning Feb. 3.

Lessons will take place Thursdays at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center and will run for 10 weeks.

Superintendent of the parks and recreation department, Kathy Mazzuchelli, noted that golf is increasing in popularity and the program will help both the beginning golfer as well as the more experienced golfer who wants to begin warming up for the 2011 golf season.

She said that facilitating the golf lessons promotes her department’s goal of lifetime learning.

Only the first 15 to register will be accepted. Beginners’ lessons will be held from 6:15-7:15 p.m. and intermediate/advanced lessons from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The cost is $40. Registrants must be at least 18 years of age.
