Maple Meadow Farms

announces art contest

MAPLETON — Maple Meadow Farm Festival is celebrating its fifth year. For the past four years, the Gregg family, of Maple Meadow Farms in Mapleton, has been hosting an admission-free festival celebrating rural and agricultural living. People from Aroostook County, and all over the state, join the family to observe farming and agricultural demonstrations, listen to live bluegrass music, savor country cuisine, and browse for antiques and quality crafts.

The Gregg family is hosting an art contest this year in order to find an illustration to represent the essence of the festival.

“Our festival not only celebrates agricultural traditions but the quality artistry and craftsmanship originating from rural areas,” said Andrea Gregg, festival organizer. “We want our promotional material to emphasize our mission, and we’re hoping an illustration will capture our celebration for the arts and agriculture.”

Maple Meadow Farms will feature the winning design on the festival poster, the farm website, and marketing and promotional material. A profile of the artist will appear on the website and at the festival where posters featuring the illustration will also be sold. Maple Meadow Farms will also send out a press release focusing on the artist and the artwork and host an artist reception announcing the contest winner. In addition to these promotional benefits, the winning artist receives $200, as well as the satisfaction of seeing her/his creation on posters all over Maine.

Submissions will be accepted until March 31, 2011.
