Men’s hoop update

Standings in the Caribou Men’s Basketball League as of Jan. 18 are as follows: Griffeth Ford (9-1), Freddy Ps (8-1), Gagnon’s Studio (6-4), Time Warner Cable (4-7), Loring Job Corps (3-5), Leo’s Citgo (3-6), St. Peter Construction (3-7), Theriault Lawn Care (2-7).

Big East statistics

The Big East Conference posted statistics for its basketball league Jan. 16 and Caribou players are near the top of the rankings in a number of categories.

For boys, Matt Till is second in scoring at 13.33 points per game.

Stephen St. Peter is third in field goal percentage at 52.46 percent and Till is seventh at 48.65 percent. Till is also ninth in three-point field goal percentage (28.57 percent).

Chad Caverhill is sixth (71.05 percent) and St. Peter eighth (70 percent) in free throw percentage.

St. Peter is ninth in rebounding at 5.33 per game and Caverhill is seventh in steals at 2.22 per contest and Till ninth at 1.89 per game. Roland Thibodeau is sixth in assists at 2.78 per game.

For girls, Jenna Selander is second in scoring at 15.88 ppg and Alexa Massey is ninth at 11 ppg, while Massey is third (46.48 percent) in field goal percentage.

Rebecca McDougal is fourth (75 percent) and Massey 10th (66.67 percent) in free throw percentage, while Selander is ninth in steals at 2.38 per contest.

Friday FUNdamentals

This year’s Northern Skiers Club weekly Friday FUNdamentals sessions will take place Fridays at 6 p.m. at the Caribou Ski Center at Caribou High School. Adults looking to learn to cross country ski as beginners, or those looking to improve their technique a bit as intermediates, are welcome.

UMPI hosting climbing night
