The Houlton Recreation Center gym and game room schedule for youth for the week of Feb. 6 is as follows:
Sunday, Feb. 6, 1-4 p.m.; Monday, Feb. 7, 2:45-5 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2:45-5 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 9 – closed for Hot Shot competition (game room is open 2:45-5 p.m.); Thursday, Feb. 10, 2:45-5 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 11, 2:45-5 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 12, 1-4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13, 1-4 p.m.
Adult open gym is held each Monday and Wednesday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Adults must be 18 years of age and out of high school to play. Cost is $2 per person.
Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. will be the final Sneakin’ In Science class for this session.
The Houlton Recreation Department will be accepting registrations until Feb. 18 for the following vacation programs. Many of the programs are limited and for more details on each program call the rec office at 532-1310.
Arts and Crafts Program for children in Grades Pre-K – 4. It will run Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 9-11 a.m. at the rec center. Cost is $5 per child and this program is limited to 24 children.
Sliding and cross country skiing for youth in grades 3-6 will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 1-3 p.m. Children are asked to meet at the Millar Civic Center. Dress warm, bring a sled. Youth skis will be provided. Cost is $5 per child and this program is limited to 24 children.
Sneakin’ In Science Program for children ages 7 to 12 years on Wednesday, Feb. 23 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the rec center. Cost is $12 per child and this popular program is limited to 12 children. This session is titled “Space Tour.” Children will discover the difference between planets, stars and galaxies through experiments and activities. Sara McQuarrie is the instructor. Children will get to take home a glow in the dark solar system kit.
Red Cross Babysitting Training will be held for ages 11 to 15 years on Thursday, Feb. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the rec center. Cost is $50 per youth and is limited to 12 youth. Youth will learn how to interview for a babysitting job; make good, responsible decisions while supervising children; how to choose appropriate toys; perform first aid; basic routine like diapering, feeding and more.
G-Force Laser Tag event: Saturday, Feb. 19 from 3-5 p.m. for ages 6-12 and 5-7 p.m. for ages 12 and older. Cost is $10 per player per session. Door prizes and lots of fun!
The Houlton Rec Center will be open to youth during the February vacation break on Sunday, Feb. 20 through Sunday, Feb. 26 from 1-4 p.m. each day. Both the gym and game room will be available to youth. Bring your friends and spend some time of your vacation with us.
