Excitement was in the air, literally, as chartered aircraft ranging in size from small turboprops to a 737 jet touched down at Presque Isle’s Northern Maine Regional Airport in advance of the E.ON IBU World Cup Biathlon. Among those braving below-zero temps and late Jan. 31 evening arrival times to warmly welcome biathletes from North America and Europe were, from left, Rick Chapman, Lauren Chapman, Karen Chapman and David Hunter, all of Caribou. In the background are Caleb and Doug Hunter. Both families came to Presque Isle to greet their “house guests” at the airport lobby.
