Delano wins regional TD Bank award

    HOULTON — Winning an all-expenses paid trip to Florida would have to be on the top of just about anyone’s list of desires, particularly at this time of year. For Julie Delano of Houlton, that wish has become a reality.
    Delano, the assistant store manager for T.D. Bank in Houlton, was chosen to receive the bank’s “CEO Wow Leadership Award,” which recognizes bank employees throughout New England based on their performance. She learned of her award Monday, Feb. 7 at a ceremony for New England nominees in Portland.

RECEIVES AWARD — Julie Delano, assistant store manager for T.D. The award is based on her performance in the company’s sales division.
    “Oh my God was I surprised,” Delano said. “I really had no clue. I didn’t know what to do when they called my name. It was all set up like an Academy Awards-style event.”
    Delano explained she was the first winner announced on the evening and when her name was announced, there was a camera projecting her image onto a large screen for the audience to see. While she did not have to give an acceptance speech, she did have to walk up on the stage to accept her award.
    Delano was one of three New England bank employees chosen to receive the award. She received a trophy and an all-expense-paid trip to St. Augustine, Fla., where she will stay at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, Fla.
    While in Florida, she will participate in a few business workshops, but the majority of her time will be for relaxation. Delano, along with a guest, will be in Florida April 10-13 and will join numerous bank officials on the trip.
    Last year, Delano was invited to go to Florida with a bank friend who won the award. She said she would likely return the favor this year.
    The CEO WOW! Leadership awards are presented annually to the best of TD Bank’s top performers during the regional WOW! Award events. The award celebrates exceptional employees for their outstanding leadership, service, and contributions to the success of TD Bank throughout the year.
