Men’s basketball schedule for this week

Feb. 16:    7 p.m., Theriault’s Lawn Care vs. Loring Job Corps; 8 p.m., Time Warner vs. Leo’s Citgo; Feb. 21: 7 p.m., Griffeth Ford vs. Gagnon’s Studio; 8 p.m., Freddy Ps vs. Theriault Lawn Care.

Men’s 30-and-over basketball continues

This program is for men ages 30 and over and meets Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon. There is a $3 per player fee on Sundays.

Winter Carnival Crazy Caribou Games continue

During the month of February, the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Cary Medical Center to offer Crazy Caribou Games as part of the Winter Carnival activities.         The purpose of this event is to encourage everyone to get out and have some fun. All events will take place at Teague Park beginning at 6 p.m..

Outhouse races are set for Wednesday, Feb. 16, couch potato biathlon on Friday, Feb. 18 and broomball on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Pre-registration is required. Rules and registration forms are available at the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department.

Downtown Caribou Ski Sprints Friday

On Friday, Feb. 18, there will be a Downtown Ski Sprint at Teague Park Ski Trails in Caribou. Planned are games, skating and fun for all ages. Middle school sprints get under way at 4 p.m. At 5:15 p.m. is high school sprints, at 5:45 p.m. is open/masters sprints and at 6 p.m. is the Arooski/Fundamentals.

Awards will be presented to all entries and concessions will be available.

Grades 4-6 girls basketball schedule

Feb. 16: 3 p.m., VFW vs. Senior Citizens Bingo; 4 p.m., American Legion vs. S.W. Collins; Feb. 23: 3 p.m., no programs – vacation.

Grades 5-6 boys basketball schedule

Feb. 17: 3 p.m., Pacers vs. Celtics; 4 p.m, Knicks practice; Feb. 18 and 22, no programs – vacation.    

Caribou XC ski trails

The Caribou cross country ski trails, located next to the Caribou Country Club off Route 161 in Caribou, are now open. There are 10 kilometers of groomed trails, all with set track.

Youth ski rental program continues

The Northern Skiers and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department have partnered to bring the youth ski rental program back to the community.         This year, rentals are available to all Caribou youth and include skis, boots, poles and a carrier for a fee of $80 which includes a $20 refund upon return of the equipment in the spring.

Forms are available at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.

Zumba offered Tuesdays and Saturdays

Zumba is offered on Tuesdays from 6:15-7:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-10:30 a.m. Classes are $8 per class, payable to the instructor.

High impact aerobics offered at wellness center

High impact aerobics are offered on Monday and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-9  a.m. Classes are $5 each, 10 for $25 and 20 for $40, payable to the instructor.

Power of Prevention exercise class

The Power of Prevention exercise class is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. There is no fee for this program.

Cary diabetic exercise class

The Cary diabetic exercise class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The fee is $1 per class.
