NHC volunteers deserve all the praise

To the editor:

Thank you to the Nordic Heritage Center World Cup volunteers! As the snow dust begins to settle on the exhilarating experience we have just shared at the Nordic Heritage Center and we work through the clean-up/wrap-up phase, I think it is totally appropriate to pause for a moment to reflect on what we have accomplished and offer heartfelt thanks for the efforts and achievements.

On behalf of the entire Organizing Committee and personally, I want to express sincere appreciation for all you have done over these past days, weeks and months to make our success so positive and complete. We weren’t perfect, but the imperfections were few and insignificant in the big picture. We definitely evolved into a productive team, even if we didn’t always feel that way. And I think we all had healthy doses of learning experiences that will go far to make our next event another huge success and maybe to even make our “real” lives and occupations better and more meaningful.

Serving as a leader of this team has been humbling and gratifying. Working hand-in-hand with such a friendly and genuinely committed group has been an entirely satisfying experience for me. Being in a position to hear the accolades and superlatives heaped on us by just about everyone impacted by our IBU World Cup Biathlon event has been a source of great pride.

I wish I could share each and every positive comment word-for-word with each of our volunteers. You deserve all of the praise and recognition for the success of the event and the undying gratitude of the communities you have served in the process.

Again, thank you.
