Easton students enjoyed biathlon
To the editor:
On behalf of the Easton School District, we would like to thank the many people and businesses that supported our recent trip to the 2011 World Cup Biathlon at the Nordic Heritage Center. This incredible experience for our students would not have been possible without the generous donations of time and resources from so many.
We’d like to especially thank Elaine Hendrickson and Melinda McAleese (and friends) for their wonderfully informative presentations that helped our students gain valuable knowledge about the sport and the venue. We’d also like to thank our local EPCO, Coke, Walmart, and the Maine Potato Board for their generous donations of supplies for our students and athletes. The Crow’s Nest was very generous and allowed the use of their banquet room for our students to warm up while having lunch. WAGM was on hand to capture some of our finest student “athletes” training for their trip to the Biathlon. The PI Chamber of Commerce and the Biathlon Committee were very helpful in keeping us informed about scheduling and athletes.
We’d also like to thank the Easton parent community and School Board for being so flexible and allowing us to change the school calendar in order for us to be able to attend the biathlon.
Finally, we’d like to thank our students for being such enthusiastic supporters of the 2011 World Cup Biathlon athletes. Once again, thank you all for helping us offer this incredible opportunity to our students.
