There are five steps in Rachel’s Challenge. One is look for the best in others, which means even if they’re in a bad mood, you should try to see something good in them. Number two is to dream, set goals for yourself, and keep a journal. I have already started this one. I have set goals and I have a journal or diary, which ever one you want to call it. So far I feel amazing writing down my feelings and having dreams and goals I know I will complete. It’s a good feeling. Three is to choose someone who you look up to. Someone who inspires you. Four is that if you say and do kind things it could affect people and you might get a good result from it. Five is to start a chain reaction with family and friends. So basically, if you are kind to someone that person will hopefully be kind to someone else, and it will keep going on like that. I think first I am going to do number three where I have already started number two.
I am going to start on three, because without a good influence you could do something really bad. Like if you chose Hitler as someone you look up to, you would start to hate Jewish people and could end up trying to kill people. That’s why it’s important to have someone who does or has done good things to look up to.
Well, by choosing someone like Theodore Roosevelt or Martin Luther King Jr. to look up to, I will try to do things like they did. I will try and keep the earth clean by picking up trash and starting a flower garden.
By having Martin Luther King Jr. as someone I look up to, I will be kinder to people no matter how different they are to me, because in a way, we are all the same on the inside. We all want the same things. In other words, we are all equal no matter what.
In this report you have learned what the five things in Rachel’s Challenge are and what I think they mean. Also you learned that I would choose challenge three to begin with and why. No matter what happens, I am going to change the world just like Rachel did. This is what I believe, and what I will stand by no matter what anyone else may say.
