These are our favorite sharks that me and my friend Cassidy picked to put in the newspaper.

All sharks lay eggs called a mermaids purse.

There are so many types of sharks.

There is one called an angel shark. An angel shark got its name from the fins that look like wings. The angel shark looks cute but it is very dangerous. It’s jaws are lightening fast. The angle shark has lots of sharp teeth. It takes its prey by surprise. They spend most of their time hiding under the sand or in a cave on the ocean floor. They take in oxygen from gill slits that are also called spiracles that are on the top of their heads. Angel sharks are very slow. Angel sharks have two dorsal fins.

Basking sharks are another type of shark. They look like a fierce killer shark but they are really harmless and gentle however they are giants. They eat a lot of plankton every day. Plankton live at the surface of the water. You can find a basking shark also on the surface of an ocean. A basking shark can take in all the water in a 165 foot swimming pool in an hour. It takes in the water through its gill rakers. The basking shark has a very, very big mouth. It has 600 little teeth on its top lip and about 800 little teeth on its bottom lip.

The third type of shark is the great white shark.

A great white shark can have up to 12,000 to 30,000 teeth in their mouth. It is a great hunting machine and they use all their senses to attack their prey. When they are going to bite something it only takes them a second. It can hear things over great distances. They attack with great speed. It can grow up to 20 feet.

Well this is our favorite kid of sharks. We know what there are many more kinds of sharks out there, but these are the three we loved, they were interesting to us.
