On Friday, March 11, Caribou Middle School had a School Pride Day that the Developmental Assets Team hosted. It was about going out of your way to be kind and treat others with compassion. All day long they had fun activities that had to go with being unique and working together well with others. Students also learned how mean bullying really is and that they should try to meet new people by  sitting with them at lunch, or even just flashing them a beautiful smile to brighten their day.

As Christina Aguilera says in her song “Beautiful,” — “I am beautiful no matter what they say, words can’t bring me down, I am beautiful in every single way Yes, and words won’t bring me down.” This means that no matter what people think of them they are beautiful and that they have self-confidence and believe in themselves no matter what. We think that is a beautiful message to people all across the world and it tells them not to bring down other people just for their amusement.

“Open the door three out of four” means that in a national survey three out of four kids are king and caring and are not bullies but that one person is the bully that hurts others. CMS is trying to change all of that, and make it 4 out of 4 students who are kind and caring and go out of their way to treat others with respect.

Some of the volunteers that offered to contribute to this cause were Caribou High School students and community members. The volunteers were there to help out with some of the activities. We would like to thanks those helpful individuals for contributing to the success of this event.

Remember you are beautiful in every single way!
