Celebrating reading with ‘Green Eggs and Ham’

On March 2, the students of Woodland Consolidated School celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with many activities. The students participated in Dr. Seuss activities, had a lunch of “green eggs and ham,” topped off with Dr. Seuss birthday cake for dessert. Each classroom also had a special visit from the “The Cat in the Hat” (Cindy Privette, Woodland school librarian).

As part of the Read Across America program (http://www.nea.org/readacross), older students read Dr. Seuss books with the younger students.

Also during the school-wide celebration, there was a Reading is Fundamental distribution, a federal reading program which gives a book to each student free of cost (http://www.rif.org/).
