Langille, Stoutamyer and Buck
named new Mapleton queens
The day after an April Fool’s Day winter storm dumped 12 inches of snow in the Presque Isle area, things warmed up inside the Presque Isle High School auditorium as 10 teenagers competed for three Mapleton crowns. The high school’s freshmen Class of 2014, led by advisors and pageant directors Helena Ford and Allison Ireland, sponsored this year’s pageant.
Class member and choreographer, Jacqueline Lambert, welcomed the nearly packed auditorium and introduced the contestants as the curtain opened in preparation of the opening number. 2010 Jr. Miss Mapleton, Hannah Guerrette and 2010 Miss Mapleton Whitney LaPointe joined the contestants during the fun and energetic dance routine to “Material Girl.” By the end of the evening, Emma Langille was crowned 2011 Jr. Miss Mapleton; Hannah Stoutamyer was crowned 2011 Teen Miss Mapleton and Kelsey Buck was named 2011 Miss Mapleton.
Presque Isle High School students, Elena Ford and Michaela Powers served as Mistresses of Ceremonies for the evening. Contestants competed in four categories including interview, which took place the Saturday prior to the pageant, casual wear (during which each contestant spoke of their individual sponsors), talent, evening gown with on stage question.

and was named first runner-up in the Junior Miss division.

Dow was named Miss Congeniality of the pageant,
received the Interview award in the Teen division
and was named Teen Miss first runner-up.

KELSEY BUCK,

Buck received the pageant’s high ticket sales award,
the Miss Interview award,
in addition to being named the new queen.
Kelsey Buck, the 17-year-old daughter of Brent and Felicia Buck
performed a self choreographed dance routine to “Electricity.”
Buck received the pageant’s high ticket sales award, the Interview award and was named 2011 Miss Mapleton. As Miss Mapleton, Buck will also receive a $500 scholarship made possible by Dr. Hank Ford and the Northern Maine Oral and Facial Surgery of Presque Isle. Ironically, Buck’s mother, Felicia (Hubbard) Buck, was named Miss Mapleton in 1989.
Performing for the last time as reigning queens were 2010 Jr. Miss Mapleton, Hannah Guerrette, who presented a jazz dance routine and 2010 Miss Mapleton, Whitney LaPointe, who presented a lyrical dance routine.

Prior to bidding farewell to the reigning queens, the newly crowned 2011 Little Miss and 2011 Pre-Teen Miss Mapleton queens were briefly interviewed on stage. Madelyn Buzza, the new 2011 Little Miss Mapleton, performed her winning vocal selection, “Nothing Is Impossible with God,” followed by Sarah Craig, the new 2011 Pre-Teen Miss Mapleton. She, too, presented her winning vocal selection, “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes.”
Following the fun parade of gowns, family and friends had an opportunity to say “thank you” and “farewell” to the 2010 Jr. Miss Mapleton, Hannah Guerrette and 2010 Miss Mapleton, Whitney LaPointe while listening to their respective farewell speeches. Guerrette was escorted by her father, Gary Guerrette and LaPointe was escorted by her father, Bryan LaPointe. Each queen received armloads of flowers and gifts before taking to the stage to assist with the awards ceremony.
Each contestant received a framed 8-inch by 10-inch photo of themselves for participating in this year’s pageant, taken by photography students, Michaela Powers and Dani Wolland. In addition to the 2010 queens, also assisting with the crowning of the 2011 Teen Miss was 2010 Teen Miss Maine Potato Queen, Michaela Powers of Mapleton.
