All you need to know about Donald Trump
To the editor:
Much like the annoying buzz of a mosquito looking for a bit of blood, the 24-hour news cycle has created a noise that is grating on the mind and the soul.
They are unanimous in their belief that Trump is actually thinking about running for President. Wait, I overstated that. I don’t think they all believe it, but it’s one of those things that comes along once in a reporter’s life and they feel obligated, much like the aforementioned mosquito, to suck the blood out the story. While they speculate with tongues pressed firmly against cheeks in case it all turns out to be a joke, Trump struts around with the stature of a Presidential candidate. As the great John Prine wrote “Quit hollering at me.”
All the pundits are examining Trump as a legitimate candidate. A politician with the acumen to run a country and a man clever enough to represent us to the world, but he is nothing like the picture they draw. Donald Trump is a businessman who thinks like a businessman and talks like a businessman and will offer his service only to the dollar. Like any good businessman he looked around and saw that he could buy publicity low and when the time comes, sell it high.
Remember, from now on, he is Donald Trump, Presidential candidate and that is the blood he was looking for. Last year he was an eccentric millionaire with some really screwed up hair. Now, the “Donald” is almost immortal.
