RIT honors Sjoberg

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Jeremiah Sjoberg, of Washburn, has been named to the dean’s list for the winter and spring quarters at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology. A second-year student in RIT’s digital photography program, Jeremiah is studying advertising photography.

Jeremiah, the son of Craig and Betty Sjoberg, of Washburn, is a 2009 graduate of Washburn District High School.

NESCom degrees earned

BANGOR — As New England School of Communications (NESCom) in Bangor celebrates 30 years of educating tomorrow’s communications professionals, the school’s founder will return as this year’s commencement speaker.

On Saturday, May 14, NESCom handed out 60 bachelor of science degrees in both communications technology and media studies. NESCom graduates will go on to specialize in the fields of WebMedia, journalism, marketing communications, video production, audio engineering, radio broadcasting and live sound technology.

Among those graduating was the following students from Presque Isle: Amanda Nadeau, marketing communication; Monique Pelletier, broadcast journalism; and Nicholas Weeks, audio engineering.

Gallagher-Sutton inducted

STANDISH — Stacey Gallagher-Sutton, of Presque Isle, was inducted to the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. The society honors undergraduate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing. Gallagher-Sutton is a registered nurse who is finishing her bachelor’s degree in nursing through the graduate and professional studies division at Saint Joseph’s, which offers online education for working professionals. Lovely named salutatorian

Osgood will give student address

On Saturday, May 14, the 112th Commencement of Husson University was held in the Winkin Sports Complex on the Husson Bangor campus. The Honorable Paul R. LePage, Governor of the State of Maine, a 1971 graduate of Husson, was commencement speaker and received an honorary doctorate for public service.

On May 21, Husson will hold a second commencement at 11 a.m. at the Woodfords Corner Congregational Church in Portland. State Rep. and former Cumberland County Sheriff Mark Dion will be the commencement speaker.

Between the two ceremonies the University will award a total of 685 degrees. At the Bangor ceremony the University presented 583 degrees to more than 500 students.

The salutatorian was Kassie J. Lovely, of Easton, who has earned a 3.978 g.p.a. She received a bachelor of science in psychology. She is the daughter of Patrick and Sally Lovely of Easton and will return to Husson next fall to complete a master’s degree in occupational therapy (MSOT). While at Husson, she served three years as a resident director. After completing her MSOT, she plans to return to Aroostook County and earn her sensory integration license work in pediatrics.

Michelle A. Osgood, from Easton and the president of the Class of 2011, delivered the class address and received a bachelor of science in biology and a bachelor of science in chemistry, summa cum laude. A 2007 graduate of Easton High School, she is the daughter of Anne and Thomas Osgood of Easton.

Hamel makes dean’s list

WELLESLEY, Mass. — Babson College has announced that Molly Delano Hamel, a student in the Class of 2011, of Presque Isle, has qualified for the fall semester dean’s list, which recognizes outstanding student scholarship.
