A GRASS FIRE was reported by a passerby on the Chandler Road  in Presque Isle around 11:29 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, about a mile from the intersection with the Washburn Road. The Presque Isle Fire Department responded with Engine 2 and a crew, where they found a grassy field on fire. Flames had spread to a tree line separating the field from an adjacent property where a home is located. The fire burned less than an acre. The fire was turned over to the Maine Forest Service, which is still investigating. No cause has been determined. Fire officials remind everyone to obtain a burn permit whenever necessary and to follow all applicable rules and laws when burning.
