LIMESTONE — A new business has settled in on Main Street in Limestone: the gift shop Grammie’s Treasures, owned by Patsy Poitras, opened its doors on Tuesday, June 7 and features a plethora of primitive décor as well as a few specifically ordered for residents of Limestone and Caswell.

Patsy Poitras, owner of Grammie’s Treasures, opened the new gift shop in Limestone on June 7.
Gems of Grammie’s Treasures range from antique furniture to greeting cards, all conveniently located in Limestone’s downtown district.
“The community response has been great,” Poitras said. “I’ve heard a lot of good comments about our inventory and how the shop looks.”
Retiring from DFAS in November of 2010, Poitras was inspired to open the shop after she realized she missed the working atmosphere.
“I missed seeing people and I always wanted to do something like this,” she said. “It’s something I really enjoy doing and it’s fun, so I thought I’d give it a try and provide an opportunity for business to stay local.”
Browsing the shop, it’s clear to see from the eclectic array on the shelves of Grammie’s Treasures that Poitras has an eye for décor, but if a customer is having trouble finding just the right item, Poitras will go the extra mile to help them find that perfect decorative piece.
“I’ve already received a few special requests for items, and those requested items are already on order,” she said matter-of-factly. “If a customer wants something specific, they can ask me and if I can find it, I’ll get it for them.”
Grammie’s Treasures is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday currently, but she may be expanding her hours in the future.
“Right now I’m just enjoying having customers come it and seeing their reactions to what we’ve done to the place and the products that are here,” Poitras said with a big smile as she mentioned how life-long residents of Limestone came to the store on opening day asking for breakfast because the location of Grammie’s Treasures was, historically speaking, a restaurant for as long as they could remember.
What Grammie’s Treasures lacks in the bacon-and-eggs variety it more than makes up with decorative pieces of Americana that can fill a home with rustic-country ambiance.
