Wrestling camp coming to Caribou

The second annual Caribou Viking Summer Wrestling Camp, featuring clinician James “Chico” Hernandez, will be held June 20-24 at Caribou Middle School.

Grades 5-8 boys and girls will meet from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the fee is $25 per student. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Grades 9-12 boys and girls will meet from 6-8 p.m. and the fee is $30. Registration begins at 5 p.m.

Hernandez, an assistant coach of the 2010-11 Viking varsity wrestling team, is a seven-time member of the United States national team. He owns 44 international wrestling titles, is a 31-time National AAU All-American in Sombo, freestyle, Greco-Roman and American Folkstyle Wrestling and is a national champion in all four styles of wrestling.

He has been featured on a box of Wheaties Energy Crunch cereal and in CNN/SI’s “Faces in the Crowd and in 2006 was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.
