Oxbow resident receives service award
Les Jenkins was recently surprised at his home by senior officers of the Odd Fellows of Maine. Jenkins was presented with a 55-year Medal of Service award for his 55 years of service to the organization. Grand Secretary Ken Grant and the DDGM Artemas Coffin dropped by his home unannounced to present him with this very special honor. “We deeply thank you for your many years of service,” remarked Grant. Jenkins is a member of the Mountain View Lodge 144 in Ashland.

LES JENKINS, center, of Oxbow Plantation, was recently surprised to receive a 55-year Medal of Service award from the Odd Fellows of Maine. Here, Jenkins poses with Grand Secretary Ken Grant, left, and DDGM Artemas Coffin from the Odd Fellows of Maine.
The Odd Fellows of Maine were organized in 1843. The Odd Fellows got their name during 17th century England where it was “odd to find a group of organized members for the sole purpose of giving to those in need and pursuing projects for the betterment of mankind. Those who belonged to such an organization were “odd fellows.” The club promotes friendship, fun and travel. The lodges support their local charities and individuals in their communities. They also take part in international charities such as world hunger and disaster relief.
Congratulations Mr. Jenkins and thank you for your contributions to your community!
