CHAPMAN — The Maine State Police continue to investigate a weekend crash that left one teen hospitalized.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, Trooper Fred Thomas, MSP, responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on the West Chapman Road in Chapman involving two vehicles.
“Adam Curtis, 19, of Presque Isle, was traveling northbound in a 2009 GMC pickup when he crashed into the back of a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe, that was also northbound, operated by Lucas Chandler, 19, of Mapleton,” said Sgt. Julie Bergan, MSP.
According to Bergan, Chandler had missed a driveway and was making a left turn into another driveway when the crash occurred.
Chandler was reportedly ejected from the Tahoe and sustained injuries to his head, neck and back. He was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle by Crown Ambulance and later flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Information on his condition was not available at presstime.
Curtis sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from TAMC. The three passengers with Curtis in the GMC pickup reported having minor injuries and were also treated and released from the Presque Isle hospital.
Chandler also had three passengers in the Tahoe at the time of the accident. They were all treated and released from TAMC as well.
The crash remains under investigation. Thomas was assisted at the scene by the Mapleton Fire Department.
Bergan said the 2009 GMC was registered to Alan Curtis of Presque Isle and the 1997 Chevy Tahoe was registered to Kyle Chandler.
There was no estimate of damage to the vehicles.
