HOULTON — The Houlton Police Department will be conducting extra patrols for drivers operating under the influence of alcohol starting Friday, July 1..
Thanks to a $2,000 grant from the Bureau of Highway Safety, the HPD will be able to fund the extra patrols during the upcoming holiday weekend.
According to Police Chief Butch Asselin, the local department will use the grant to step up its efforts of catching drunk drivers, in what is typically a busy weekend.
