HOULTON & MILLINOCKET – Helen R. (Murray) MacKenzie , 98, died June 22, 2011 in Houlton. She was born May 27, 1913 in Caribou, the daughter of Henry and Phoebe (Alward) Barnes.
Helen graduated from Caribou High School in 1930 and Bryant & Stratton College of Business in Boston and was retired from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Dept. She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Caribou, Military Street Baptist Church of Houlton and attended Faith Baptist Church of Millinocket. At the time of her death, she was attending East Hodgdon Bible Church. She was a lady who loved her Lord, served Him faithfully and has entered into the joy of her Lord.
She is survived by her husband, James Bryant MacKenzie; son, Ronald Murray and his wife, Mary, of Hodgdon; daughter, Linda Courter and her husband, Daniel, of Moulton-borough, NH; six grand-children, Daniel, Leslie, Laura, Stephen, Heidi and Darren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Donald Robert Murray; a son, Robert (Simpson) Murray; brother, Raymond Barnes.
Friends called 10-11 a.m. on July 5th at East Hodgdon Bible Church where funeral services were held 11 am. with Rev. Paul Juris officiating. Interment was in the East Hodgdon Cemetery.
