Two restaurants fail CPD’s liquor license compliance checks

CARIBOU, Maine — Two of six Caribou restaurants failed liquor compliance checks conducted by officers of the Caribou Police Department on July 22 as part of an ongoing effort to deter liquor from getting into the hands of area youth.

As the Caribou Police Department has a no tolerance policy of providing liquor to minors, CPD officers filed reports with the Maine Liquor Licensing Bureau regarding the businesses and respective employees that failed the compliance check.

The Caribou Police Department receives underage drinking enforcement grant money from the Maine Office of Substance Abuse and Aroostook Substance Abuse Prevention, which enables officers of the department to conduct compliance checks, party patrols, store surveillance and follow-up investigations, among other duties.

The grant also funds Responsible Beverage Service Trainings to on- and off-premise alcohol retailers, taught by CPD officers.

All underage drinking enforcement details conducted are at no cost to the citizens of Caribou.

If persons suspect a sale to or possession of liquor by a minor or would like more information on the Responsible Beverage Service Training, they should call the Caribou Police Department at 493-3301.
