Travis Cyr, Arootstakoostik concert organizer and local musician presents Nancy Chandler, president of the Caribou Children’s Discovery Museum board of directors with a $500 donation in support of the museum project. The donation came as a result of the continuing success of the annual Arootsakoostik Music Festival, held at Thomas Park in New Sweden earlier this summer.
Cyr also stated that during the event a canned food drive was held with all items collected being donated to the New Sweden Food Pantry.
The Arootsakoostik Music Festival is a single, day-long event with a focus on original Maine artists and musicians but has also featured several national touring acts. With three individual venues for music the event also offers arts and crafts, food vendors and a children’s play area.
Cyr offered his thanks to all local area business who donated food and beverages for the event.
In the most successful year yet, Aroosakoostik featured 22 of Maine’s best original bands/musicians drawing a crowd of more than 500 festival-goers.
Arootsakoostik will return to New Sweden in July 2012.
