WASHBURN SENIORS HONORED DURING SESQUICENTENNIAL YEAR — Honored as the King and Queen of Washburn’s Sesquicentennial Parade were Atwood and Dorothy Sperrey, pictured above left. Both now 91 years of age, they have been married for 72 years and have six children, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild! What a ‘great’ legacy for this farm family, who put their faith in the Lord! Also Enjoying the August Festival events on Saturday evening, pictured at right, was 98-year-old Herman Doody, the current holder of Washburn’s Boston Cane. He is seated with his son, Wendall, following the baked bean supper. This weekend the town celebrated its Sesquicentennial with many events enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike.
