Washburn girls have  a fast start to season

Goal scoring didn’t seem to be a problem for some teams this first week of high school girls’ varsity soccer.

Two teams, Easton and Ashland found the back of the net more than ten times in a game this week.

Washburn has started the season strong with three wins.

Recapping some of the games from the previous week:

Washburn 4, Wisdom 0 — At Washburn Monday night, Mackenzie Worcester had two goals as Washburn improved to 3-0. Mikayla Churchill and Megan Fitzpatrick added goals and Carmen Bragg an assist for the winners.

Easton 11, Wisdom 0 — In Easton on Saturday, Easton improved its record to 1-1 by dropping the Wisdom Lady Pioneers 11-0. Carla Halvorson had a hat trick for Easton. Ariana Babineau had a goal and three assists.

Washburn 6, CAHS 1 — At Washburn on Friday, Carsyn Koch scored three goals to power Washburn, now 2-0, to a 6-1 win over Central Aroostook. Mackenzie Worcester tallied two goals.

Marissa Anthony scored the lone goal for 0-2 Central Aroostook.

Ashland 13, Wisdom 0 — Ashland opened up the season by finding the back of the net 13 times against the Wisdom Lady Pioneers in St. Agatha on Thursday. Brooke Labelle scored four times and had two assists to pace the Lady Hornets.

Fort Fairfield 4, Limestone/MSSM 1 — At Limestone on Wednesday, Kylie Plourde scored two goals as Fort Fairfield went to 2-0 on the season. Logan Bubar and Kacie York chipped in with a goal apiece.

Kennedy Smith scored for Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Washburn 3, Easton 2 — In Easton on Tuesday, A very well played first game of the season for Easton and Washburn was decided with only about six and a half minutes left when Washburn’s Mackenzie Worcester scored her second goal of the game to give the Lady Beavers a 3-2 win.  Carsyn Koch scored Washburn’s other goal.

Carla Halvorson had both of Easton’s scores.

Madawaska 4, CAHS 1 — In Madawaska on Tuesday, Central Aroostook opened up its 2011 season against the Madawaska Lady Owls. Four different players scored for Madawaska in the 4-1 win over Central Aroostook.

Victoria McIntyre scored Central Aroostook’s lone goal with an assist to Rachel Drew.
