Theriault’s John Deere Day of Play
Theriault Equipment has built a reputation offering customers quality merchandise at affordable prices, carrying a full line of John Deere equipment, accessories, clothing and even toys.
They were one of six stores in North America asked by John Deere to run a pilot program geared for kids.
“The John Deere Day of Play has been a rough concept since fall 2010. It’s a program that was worked on by people in the John Deere corporate office along with folks from dealerships in North America and the third group of ideas came from people at Ertl toys (the manufacturers of John Deere licensed toys),” said Bethany Courchene, floor manager.
Area children had the opportunity to enjoy a number of activities.
“Theriault’s held their very successful Day of Play on July 23. John Deere supplied Theriault’s with a basic outline and some ideas, and a budget. In exchange, Theriault’s had to submit a report on how the day went and if it’s worth it for all dealerships to try,” said Courchene.
“Participants loved it. People were very impressed with what we have to offer,” said Courchene.
The day consisted of eight different play stations.
“We had roughly 100 kids participate. They came from Houlton, Caribou, Presque Isle, Fort Kent and the small towns in-between. We believe there were quite a few Canadians too,” said Courchene.
Theriault’s has a lot to offer all year.
“We offer clinics, and ride-n-drives for women, homeowners, land owners and farmers,” she said.
“We’re here to help make people’s jobs easier. We have all kinds of tools and information,” said Courchene.
Theriault’s also offers special events throughout the year, including educational opportunities with information on such things as operating and maintaining equipment.
“Upcoming clinics include a Fall Ride N Drive scheduled for Sept. 17, a specialty clinic on winterizing your equipment as well as your yard on Oct. 22, and, for the kids, Santa Claus is coming for a visit on Nov. 19,” said Courchene.

Theriault Equipment has two locations: 120 Caribou Rd. in Presque Isle, store hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and 106-2 North St. in Houlton, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
