Dentist proud to make you smile

Has a broken crown got you down? Star City Dental Care, LLC, can help restore your smile, whether it’s a filling you need, bridge work or some other form of dental maintenance.

“I offer gentle, thorough, quality dentistry, whether you’re looking for cosmetic dentistry, fillings, crowns, bridges or a root canal,” said Michael J. Newman, DMD.

Newman moved to the area from York County a year and a half ago, opening his practice at 169 Academy Street, Suite D, Presque Isle. He uses top-of-the-line equipment, providing patients with safe, efficient service.

“The office is equipped with a new computerized Statim 2000 dental sterilizer/autoclave to ensure patients’ safety. I insist upon having cleanliness at all levels in the office,” said Newman, who was selected as one of America’s Top Dentists for 2009-10 by the Consumer’s Research Council of America.

“The dental materials I use to restore teeth are state-of-the-art composites and bonding systems and I use quality crown/bridge/denture labs. I do more personalized, thorough-type dentistry. I do cleaning as well, getting in to see what’s going on myself,” Newman continued.

Newman’s practice offers a variety of dental services to both children and adults.

“Much of my work over the years has been with children. There are so many uninsured and under-insured children out there,” he said, expressing interest in someday offering occasional free clinics for children whose families might otherwise not be able to afford dental care. “I just like giving back to the community.”

He said his secret for staying in business is making friends out of neighbors as well as strangers.

“Having a rapport with patients is the key to my success. Quality service provided in a friendly atmosphere is very important. Being there when a patient needs you — making them feel comfortable is a priority,” said Newman.

A relaxing atmosphere greets patients, with a flat-screen television installed in the waiting area and magazines to help pass the time before an appointment.

The business includes one full-time and one part-time employee. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“I’m still accepting new patients,” noted Newman.
