To the editor:
As many of you know, I recently retired after being in charge of and maintaining all of the town roads in Oakfield for the past 32 and one-half years. My duties ran from plowing, sanding and salting the roads to installing the culverts and drainage ditches as needed.
During those years, I was blessed to have had the opportunity to serve you. I appreciate the support, the help and the respect that was shown to me during the course of my employment by most of the members of the Board of Selectmen as well as our present town manager, Dale Morris; Mrs. Candis Nevers, former town manager of Oakfield; and many, many residents.
A farewell retirement party was held for me and I want to thank those who took time from their busy schedules to attend the party. Your support and friendship means the world to me.
Finally, I want to thank my wife, Barbara, who for 32-plus years did her best to support me despite the hundreds of nights she was alone while I worked for the town. I also want to thank her for the hundreds of times she would interrupt whatever she was doing to provide me with transportation when I had to bring town equipment from one place to another, as I worked for most of those 32 years alone.
Again, please accept my sincere thanks and best wishes.
