PRESQUE ISLE — The Maine Potato News, the official newspaper of the state’s potato industry and affiliated with the Maine Potato Board, is changing from a monthly to a bimonthly publication in 2012. The new publication schedule is based on the changing needs of agriculture producers and suppliers.
The combined October/November/December edition of the Maine Potato News will be the last one in 2011. Advertising and editorial deadline is Monday, Oct. 3 as the newspaper will be directly mailed to customers the following week.
In a related matter, a “Farm and Forest” section is being added to the weekly newspapers in Caribou, Dover-Foxcroft, Houlton and Presque Isle to better serve those important sectors of the state’s rural economy. The first edition will run in early November.
Those seeking to reach the farm and natural resources market during other times of the year are encouraged to place their advertising or editorial message into the weekly newspapers — Aroostook Republican & News, The Piscataquis Observer, the Houlton Pioneer Times and/or The Star-Herald, which cover the communities of Aroostook, Piscataquis and parts of Penobscot, Somerset and Washington counties.
