Johnston, Marie R., 84, of Caribou and Gardiner, on September 14, 2011. A memorial service will be held on September 24, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, Caribu. Interment will follow services at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.

AR Marie JohnstonCARIBOU and GARDINER – Marie R. Johnston, 84, went home to be with the “Love of her Life”, her late husband, Wilfred H. Johnston on the morning of September 14, 2011. She was born on November 15, 1926, in St. David, the daughter of the late Joseph and Susan (Sirois) Lagasse.

Marie was a very loving, caring, giving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed being with family and taking a lot of pride and joy in watching them grow. Marie was a life-long member of the Caribou VFW Auxiliary. She lived most of her married life in Caribou, moving to Gardiner the past two years to be with family.

Marie is survived by a son Roger Johnston, daughters, Susan Johnston of Gardiner, Joanne and her husband Jim Deveau of Terryville, CT, a “special daughter” Carol Johnston of Caribou, nine grandchildren, Shannon, Jason, and Christian Deveau, Troy and Chad Johnston, all of Bristol, CT, Aaron Martin and his wife Heather of Lebanon, Teasha Martin of Gardiner, Jared Johnston of Caribou, and McKenzie and her husband Tyler Stevenson of Wayne. Marie had ten great-grandchildren that she was very proud of, Eben Martin of South Carolina, Olivia, Logan and Ethan Deveau, Karen and Athena Rayak, Victoria and Nicholas Johnston, all of CT, and Wyatt and Issac Stevenson of Wayne. Marie also leaves behind one brother, Joseph R. Lagasse of Texas, three sisters, Irma Ouellette of Van Buren, Theresa Byram of Nebraska, and Alma Hesse of California.

In addition to her parents, and her husband Wilfred, she was predeceased by a son Robert W. Johnston, brothers Gerald, Ned, Leonard and Emile Lagasse, and a sister Eloise Belanger.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, at 1 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou; the Reverend Jean Paul Labrie officiating. Interment will follow services at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Fairfield. Following interment, a reception will be held at the Caribou VFW.
