ATV accident fatal for Limestone man

FRENCHVILLE — A Limestone man was killed over the weekend after an ATV accident on Sept. 18 in Frenchville proved fatal.

According to Sgt. Julie Bergan, John Tweed, 69, of Limestone was operating a 2010 Polaris four wheeler while riding with a friend, heading south on Airport Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle and it flipped over. Tweed was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene. His friend was not injured.

Detective Scott Bryant responded to the scene of the accident at 6:10 p.m. The investigation is ongoing, but speed is considered a factor.

Detective Bryant was assisted by Trooper Fred Thomas, Sgt. Julie Bergan and Wardens Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jeff Spencer. The Frenchville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
