The Northern Maine Community College Falcons dropped three matches this past week to fall to 0-4 overall.
Coach Bill Casavant’s team was shut out by EMCC in Bangor last Wednesday, 2-0. It was a one-goal game until Nick Byron of the Golden Eagles put the game away with 2:45 left in regulation. Falcon goalkeeper Chad McCarthy had 13 saves on 18 shots, while Eric Peters of EMCC stopped eight of 12.
The Falcons had back-to-back home matches over the weekend. On Saturday, NMCC lost in overtime, 3-2. Jacob Lassonde put the Falcons on top by scoring 10:01 into the first half before Unity tied the match with 3:59 to play before intermission. A Ryan Blanchette goal at 31:51 of the second half put NMCC back in the lead before Unity knotted the score with 14:29 left. During the extra session, Unity scored six minutes in to end the contest.
McCarthy had 21 saves on 40 shots in goal for the Falcons.
On Sunday, the CMCC Mustangs came to town and scored five first-half goals en route to a 6-0 victory. Donald Murin had four assists and a goal to lead the visitor’s offense. McCarthy had another busy afternoon in goal, saving 14 of 37 shots.
NMCC plays at UM-Machias this afternoon and then hosts EMCC at 1 p.m. at the Presque Isle Middle School turf field on Sunday.
Healthy You Alumni Olympics to take place at university
PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host Healthy You Alumni Olympics Friday, Sept. 23 from 3-5:30 p.m. at Gentile Hall.
This free event is co-sponsored by Cary Medical Center and Pines Health Services. The public is invited to participate and enjoy a variety of fun activities, get free health screenings, pick up health education information, enjoy a healthy snack and sign up for door prizes.

Women’s soccer team to hold spaghetti supper fundraiser
PRESQUE ISLE — The UMPI women’s soccer team will host its spaghetti supper fundraiser during Homecoming weekend on Friday, Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the university’s Campus Center.
