Owl volleyball team
gains first win of season

The University of Maine at Presque Isle volleyball team picked up its first victory of the season after starting with 11 consecutive losses. The win came Saturday over Unity College, 13-25, 25-22, 25-21, 18-25 and 16-14. The match took place at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

The same two teams met up at Wieden Gymnasium Sunday and again the match went to five sets, with Unity winning this time, 25-17, 20-25, 14-25, 25-14 and 25-13.

The Owls were blanked by UM-Machias that same day, 25-18, 26-24 and 25-23.

UMPI also dropped a match to UM-Fort Kent Saturday, 20-25, 25-10, 25-21 and 25-23.

The Owls are off until Saturday, Oct. 1 when they travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy to face the host Buccaneers and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Match times are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

UMPI also dropped a match to UM-Fort Kent Saturday, 20-25, 25-10, 25-21 and 25-23.

UMPI men drop pair

The University of Maine at Presque Isle men’s soccer team is now 2-4 on the season after losing a 7-0 match at UM-Fort Kent Saturday and returning home to drop a 2-1 decision to UM-Machias Sunday.

The Owls and Bengals have a rematch scheduled for Saturday as part of UMPI’s Homecoming festivities. Game time is 2 p.m.

Owl women fall short vs. Bengals, Clippers

The UM-Presque Isle women’s soccer team saw its record even at 3-3 after losses at UM-Fort Kent Saturday and at home to UM-Machias Sunday.

The Owls next play at home Saturday, again against UM-Fort Kent, as part of Homecoming Weekend. Game time is noon.
